About · 020

Lumina is made by Wendor, an India-based company. It started from a simple observation: libraries deserve software as considered as the rooms they work in.

The idea

Koha is the open-source library system most libraries know. Lumina keeps its vocabulary and its data model close enough that a Koha library can move in, and changes the things that make the daily work harder than it should be: the desk, the settings, the mobile story, the reports.

It is built for Indian libraries first: INR and GST, UPI and Razorpay, Hindi and English, Devanagari-friendly search, accession numbers. But nothing about it is only for India.

What it is not: a twenty-year community, a finished product, or deployed anywhere yet. It is version 0.1.0, built and tested locally, and we would like to prove it with real libraries, starting with careful rehearsals.

Principles

Say what is true

No invented testimonials, logos, user counts or prices on this site. Gaps are stated where you will see them.

Write it down

Every product page in the documentation carries a "verified against code" date.

Keep your data yours

Self-hostable on Postgres, with an exact rollback on imports and Koha never written to.

Next step

See your library in Lumina.

Thirty minutes, your questions, and a walk through the desk, the catalogue and the Koha import. No slides.
