A fast issue-and-return desk, a catalogue children can actually search, a library card in every student's pocket and reading challenges that turn borrowing into a game.
EXAMPLE BADGES
Sound familiar?
One librarian, five hundred students
The desk has to be fast: scan the card, scan the book, done. Anything slower becomes a queue at the door.
Books that quietly disappear
Without a regular shelf check, losses are discovered at year end. Inventory should be a walk down the shelf, not a project.
Reminders nobody reads
Notes in the diary get lost. Notices should arrive where families already are: SMS, WhatsApp, email.
Getting children to read
A catalogue that feels like homework and a card that lives in a drawer do not help. It should feel like a library.

The real thing

Discover
Browse and search from the member app.

The card
A scannable library card.

Shelf reading
An annual stocktake that does not ruin a week.

Challenges and clubs
Reading challenges and clubs in the engagement module.
Example badges are illustrations, not a promise of specific built-in awards.
Questions
Can students use the library without their own phone?
Yes. Cards can be printed with a barcode and a QR code, and the desk scans either. The app is optional.
Are the reading challenges finished?
The engagement module (challenges and clubs) exists and appears in the member app, but the parity table still lists parts of it as Planned. We would call it early.

Thirty minutes, your questions, and a walk through the desk, the catalogue and the Koha import. No slides.
