Cataloguing · 025.3

A real MARC21 editor with frameworks, ISBN lookup, duplicate detection, batch edit, barcode and QR labels, and a staged import with match rules. Search that forgives typos and understands Devanagari.

What is in it

A proper MARC editor

Frameworks, an expert view, and item editing independent of MARC tags. Koha's 952 subfield forms are a pain; this is not that.

ISBN lookup

Fetch a draft record from Open Library or Google Books, then correct it. Scan, review, save.

Duplicate detection

Catch the copy you already own before it becomes a second record.

Labels with barcode and QR

Every book can be scanned as Code 128 or as a QR code, from the same label.

Staged MARC import and export

Import into a staging area, apply match rules, review, then commit. Export MARC when you need to leave or share.

Search that understands you

Full-text, fuzzy and Devanagari-friendly search with facets, maintained by the database. There is no index to rebuild.

01

Find it, however it was spelled

Postgres full-text and trigram search with facets for format, language, subject and more. A reader who types it wrong still finds the book.

02

A record that reads like a book

Holdings, items, history and the MARC view on one page. Authorities link headings so names stay consistent.

03

The MARC editor

Cataloguing frameworks guide the fields; the expert view is there for those who think in tags. Batch edit runs as a background job with a log.

04

Import with a safety net

Records land in a staging area first, with match rules to find existing titles. Nothing touches the catalogue until you commit.

05

Labels that scan both ways

Print spine and barcode labels with a Code 128 barcode and a QR code, so any reader or phone can identify the book.

Questions

Does Lumina speak Z39.50?

Not yet. Z39.50 and SRU (client and server) are planned. Today you can look up by ISBN through Open Library and Google Books, and import MARC files.

Can I import my existing MARC records?

Yes: staged MARC import with match rules, and from Koha directly through the Koha import module.

Thirty minutes, your questions, and a walk through the desk, the catalogue and the Koha import. No slides.
